CareVoice started with a paper card I made for my grandpa.
My grandpa stayed in the hospital for two weeks after surgery. He does not speak English, so even simple things like "I need water", "I need to use the bathroom", or "I need a blanket" could be hard for him to communicate. So I made a bilingual Chinese-English card that he could point to and show the nurses what he needed.
The card helped him. It also made me wonder how many other patients face the same problem.
So I turned that paper card into CareVoice.
CareVoice is a simple bilingual communication tool for hospital patients. It helps people express basic needs when language gets in the way, and hopefully gives their families a little more peace of mind. It is completely free, requires no installation, and does not collect personal information.
CareVoice started with one small need in my family. I hope it can help more people like my grandpa.
